Noli Me Tangere is the groundbreaking novel written in late 19th century by Philippine national hero Jose Rizal. The novel writes the ills of 19th century colonial Manila deriding the corruption that has proliferated and condemns the abuses of the colonial state and the Catholic church. The colonial government took notice of the provocative novel and banned its circulation. However, the novel and the many foregoing events in the Philippines has already sown enlightenment and soon, the masses challenged the status quo resulting in the outbreak of the revolution.
With this paramount impact, Noli Me Tangere remains (and will probably forever remain) a true gem in Philippine literary history. And in the age of fast technological advancements, it copes and takes a new medium, as an iPad app. How awesome is that! :)
